Big bags of food, small bags of treats - reward them fairly.

The dog still eats every day, so the big bag comes off your shelf every few weeks whether the online places are cheaper that month or not. That customer is worth keeping. A spend card in their phone wallet adds up the food, the chews and the new lead alike: staff tap $10, $20, $50 at the counter, the tally builds, and at $300 they've earned $15 off the next bag. No till integration, no paper card to lose in the ute.

The counter does one thing

Ring it up, tap it in: scan the customer's card, tap the amounts - $100 and $20 for a $118 bag is close enough - and tap Add. The card in their wallet updates in seconds. Rounding is your call, and rounding in the customer's favour costs you a couple of dollars while buying real goodwill.

When they hit the target: the redeem button appears on the counter app and the card says the reward's ready. Take the $15 off at the till, tap Redeem, and anything above the target carries toward their next reward - so a big bag never gets wasted by landing at the wrong moment.

Regulars notice

A coupon ("$10 off your first bag over $80") shared on your socials brings new owners through the door, claimable once per person, with a paw mark on the front of it. And when a food brand goes on special or the flea season starts, a message to every card holder lands on their lock screens - the sort of nudge that gets a bag bought here rather than ordered online.

Questions pet stores ask

How do staff enter the amount?

Tap preset buttons - $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 - that add up on screen, then one tap commits it. A $118 bag is two taps: $100, $20. A $9 pack of treats is one. It's faster than getting the receipt out of the printer.

Does it need my till or POS?

No. Nothing plugs into your till - staff tap the amount into the counter app themselves. That's what makes it a five-minute setup instead of an integration project.

Is the tally money I owe the customer?

No. The tally is only a record of what they've already bought, used to work out when they've earned your reward. The reward is a discount you give at your counter - there's no stored value, and none of it can be cashed out.

What does it cost?

NZ$19 a month including GST, however many customers you have. The first 30 days are free, no credit card needed.
