The $60 veggie box and the $6 bunch of herbs aren't the same visit.
One customer ducks in for coriander and a lemon. The next fills two bags for the week and comes back Sunday for more. A spend card in their phone wallet counts the dollars instead of the doorway: staff tap $10, $20, $50 at the counter, the tally builds across visits, and at $250 they've earned the $10 off you promised. No till integration, nothing to print, nothing to lose in a tote bag.
The counter does one thing
Weigh it, ring it up, tap it in: scan the customer's card, tap the amounts - $20, $10 and $5 for a $35 basket - and tap Add. The card in their wallet updates in seconds. Rounding is your call, and rounding a $57 box up to $60 costs you almost nothing and gets noticed.
When they hit the target: the redeem button appears on the counter app and the card says the reward's ready. Take the discount off at the till, tap Redeem, and anything over the target carries toward their next one.
Regulars notice
A coupon ("$5 off your first shop over $40") shared on your socials brings new faces past the fruit boxes, claimable once per person - and it can carry a little carrot mark of its own. When the first Central Otago cherries land or the avocados finally come right, a message to every card holder shows up on their lock screens that morning.
Questions greengrocers ask
How do staff enter the amount?
Tap preset buttons - $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 - that add up on screen, then one tap commits it. A $35 basket is three taps: $20, $10, $5. It's quicker than bagging the last of the spuds.
Does it need my scales or POS?
No. Nothing connects to your scales or your till - staff read the total and tap it in themselves. That's why it's a five-minute setup instead of a project you have to book someone in for.
Is the tally money I owe the customer?
No. The tally is only a record of shopping they've already done, used to work out when they've earned your reward. What they get is a discount off their next shop at your counter - there's no stored value and nothing that can be cashed out.
What does it cost?
NZ$19 a month including GST, however many customers you have. The first 30 days are free, no credit card needed.
